Fountain Hills is one of the best places to live in the greater Phoenix area. The town boasts more than 300 days of sunshine each year and the centerpiece of Fountain Hills is its massive fountain that goes off every hour, on at the hour from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the middle of Fountain Park.

Fountain Hills is situated east of Scottsdale and 40 minutes from Sky Harbor International Airport. The town is embraced by the McDowell Mountains and an enchanting wildlife preserve. Of special note is that 30 percent of the community consists of open space, parks, and golf courses, with 25 percent of the land reserved for future development. The town includes many full-time residents and part-time residents that escape the cold in the Midwest, the East Coast and from Canada.

McDowell Mountains Regional Park offers biking, hiking, and horseback riding. The range crests at approximately 4,000 feet and encompasses 50 miles of trails. The park includes two picnic areas, totaling 88 sites.

Located just a short drive from town are seven of the most picturesque lakes in Arizona. Water sports can be enjoyed year-round, including fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking and tubing. The waterways also create thrilling opportunities for birding, wildlife sighting and photography.

Golf is a prime pastime. Fountain Hills is one of three Arizona towns with the greatest concentration of world-class courses. Five clubs provide glorious vistas of mountains and the surrounding desert. Fairways are lush and meticulously groomed, offering exciting elevation grades and enjoyable rounds.

The town leads the state with job opportunities in retail, public administration, finance, insurance, healthcare, and education. Work also abounds in construction and manufacturing. Men are commonly employed as salespeople, managers, office staff, financial professionals, computer technicians, law enforcement officers and construction workers. The most popular occupations for women include administrative employees, salespeople, medical staff, managers, teachers, librarians, business professionals and food servers.
