Fountain Hills Outdoor Adventures
Fountain Hills is a very special place to live or visit. It is surrounded by spectacular mountains, the beautiful Sonoran Desert and miles of rolling hills. It is also known for its world-class golf courses and one of the tallest fountains in the world. At its peak, the fountain reaches 560 feet in height. The fountain is only extended to its fullest height on special occasions and typically, the fountain is at a daily height of 330 feet.
Fountain Park was built in 1970 and is a 64-acre recreation area for the town and its visitors. There are many outdoor activities there year-round. Fountain Park has picnic areas, a playground, a great walking track and restrooms throughout. The children’s playground is child safe and allows for the children to have plenty of fun in the sun and water. The park also has an 18-hole championship disc golf course for everyone to enjoy. Outdoor adventures in Fountain Hills include off-road jeep tours, horseback riding, biking, hiking, kayaking, and golf on beautiful manicured golf courses.
Saguaro Lake is only twenty minutes away from the city and is a very popular recreational site and is located in the Tonto National Forest. Visitors can enjoy dinner at the Lakeshore Restaurant and take in all the spectacular sights of the rugged shoreline. Below the dam there are horseback riding tours, tube rentals and kayaking. Your outdoor adventures will give you plenty of photo opportunities for your scrapbook.
Take a thrilling Hummer or Jeep excursion tour into the desert. Desert Dogs Adventures will show you all the tranquil sights of the desert during the day or you can watch a breathtaking sunset on a guided tour in the desert. The spectacular views of the changing colors in the mountains at nightfall will astound even the most experienced traveler!
Just outside your backdoor is the beautiful McDowell Mountain Regional Park which hosts the Friday Fitness hike. On a guided tour, you can spend an hour or two hiking or the full day outdoors.
